DYNAFIT INVITES PARTNERS, EXPERTS IN SKI MOUNTAINEERING TO MEETING IN GREECE

Ski touring specialist DYNAFIT invited ski touring experts from five Alpine countries to come together for a roundtable discussion and ski tour on Mt. Olympus (2,918 m/9,574 ft). The group with 16 participants was hosted at Greece’s highest mountain range and an exotic ski touring destination.

With the motto, “From Poseidon to Zeus,” partners, employees and mountain guides associated with ski touring manufacturer DYNAFIT came together for a mutual exchange of ideas and shared ski tours over four days at Mount Olympus. In addition to summiting the main peak, Mytikas (2,918 m), there was also plenty of alpine terrain and a demanding ski descent from the summit. This highest mountain in Greece is said in Greek mythology to be the mountain of the gods and the home of Zeus. If you start at sea level, where according to mythology Poseidon ruled the seas, you conquer nearly 3,000 vertical meters (9,842 vertical feet) of unique topography.

Aside from the shared ski touring program, the professionals and opinion leaders from the ski touring manufacturers from various Alpine countries sat together for mutual discussions. Representatives from associations in attendance were Pit Meier, acting managing director of the Swiss Alpine Club; Peter Gruber, Salzburg Mountain Rescue; and Peter Veider, managing director of Tyrolean Mountain Rescue. From France came ski touring specialists Jean-Pierre Bazet, as well as Pascal Chappeland and Flavie Andre, all representing the French Mountain Guides Association SNGM (Syndicat National des Guides de Haute-Montagne). Representing ski touring in Italy were Oscar Angeloni, trainer of the Italian National Team, and Oswald Santin, the South Tyrol organizer of the Sella Ronda Ski Marathon. Other experts from Germany also had the opportunity for in-depth idea exchanges with product managers from DYNAFIT as well as with Fritz Barthel, inventor of the DYNAFIT binding system.

Greek distributors George Klaoudatos and his partners outdid themselves in hosting participants with unsurpassed hospitality. One of their goals is to develop the sport of ski touring in Greece. In addition, the trip, which was also offered by DYNAFIT as a retailer trip on prior dates, was extremely well organized by partners “The Mountain Guides” and the Hindelanger Mountain Guide Office.
