The legend of professional skiers customizing and modifying their ski boots is finally exposed. Their secrets are divulged to show you that they do in fact modify their ski boots, quite extensively in fact. In this episode, some of the thoughts behind the mods, the successes and failures, and concepts are shown behind this boot mod process as a full process of testing new concepts in a Salmon X/Alp ski boot is shown. Joined by Tucker Patton, guide / owner of Triple Point Expeditions and photographer Ming Poon, the crew makes a blitz to Idaho and tackles an iconic couloir in the Sawtooth Mountains. The world has suddenly changed. For most of us, it has stopped completely. In the scheme of things, skiing is suddenly not very important. Collectively, globally we're all trying to get through this age of COVID-19 and for this project, the thing I've devoted my life to, it means joining you all in staying home, not traveling and keeping this disease from continuing to spread. In this episode, the project status is told along with a really amazing story from the CEO of Arcade Belts, Tristan Queen. A story based upon fighting for your community, your employees and for the health of the world. It's a small story from a small company, but let's hope it inspires hope in a time filled with anxiety and dread.

Live call with Cody Townsend, Bjarne Salen and Ryan Dunfee, the "Give'r the beans" guy from Mt. Washington Episode. In the live chat we talk about the east coast vs. west coast, the current state of The FIFTY amid the COVID-19 pandemic and how Bjarne and Cody met and their partnership on the project.

The FIFTY involves a lot of driving and a lot of camping. The rig that gets Cody around North America is a 2019 Ford Ranger equipped out with a GFC Camper and a bevy of storage, organization and car camping tools. In this episode, a tour of the truck is given to show how the truck was customized for chasing classics across North America. Sneak peak at cinematographer extraordinaire Bjarne's Salen's custom built Ram Promaster Van along with a guest appearance by van life connoisseur Jimmy Chin.

Standing watch above the Mt. Baker Ski Area in Washington state is Mt. Shuksan, a towering mountain that steals your eye and sends shivers down your spine. Its glaciated terrain is always moving, letting loose torrential avalanches at a moment's notice. Its northern faces are steep, wild and fraught with peril. It takes perfect timing along with a union of perfect conditions to ski it. After ten years of waiting for that union, the time has come. Having spotted a solid weather and stability window, the Fifty crew camps out at the legendary Mt. Baker Ski Area parking lot and is joined by fellow Salomon athletes Stan Rey and Alexi Godbout for an attempt to ski the steep and heavily exposed Northwest Couloir. While conditions seemed perfect from afar, the mission gets thrown into jeopardy by a sudden shift in winds and a whole lot of question marks. Πραγματικά θλιβερό να μην υπάρχει κανένα αίσθημα ευθύνης προς το κοινωνικό σύνολο σε μία κατάσταση που απειλεί τη δημόσια υγεία. Ελπίζω τις επόμενες ημέρες να γίνει αντιληπτή η σοβαρότητα της κατάστασης και να προσαρμοστούν όλοι (πριν να είναι αργά) γιατί απ' ότι βλέπω μέχρι στιγμής φαίνεται το αντίθετο για μία μεγάλη μερίδα πληθυσμού (παραλίες σήμερα, καφετέριες τις προηγούμενες ημέρες κλπ).

Οριστικό τέλος σεζόν λόγω της παρούσας κατάστασης...

Όσα γνωρίζω έχουν κλείσει ή κλείνουν αύριο.

Ελβετία έχουν ξεκινήσει να ακυρώνονται χιονοδρομικά events προς το παρόν... Ωστόσο νομίζω πως αυτό μαρτυρά που πάει το πράγμα τις επόμενες ημέρες... Η σεζόν πραγματικά θα μείνει στην ιστορία, δυστυχώς για άσχημους λόγους. Edit: Ανακοινώθηκε κλείσιμο αθλητικών χώρων και τα καταστήματα εστίασης θα έχουν μέχρι 50 άτομα...

The Cold Fusion line off of North Timpanogos, UT can be seen from the cities of Utah miles away and thousands of feet below. Its sight alone draws in skiers like bears to honey. What drew The FIFTY crew to Cold Fusion is a potential for sunny skies and unusually stable avalanche conditions. Απ' ότι διαπιστώνω από τα social media ήρθαν στον Παρνασσό riders της LINE skis. Πραγματοποιήθηκε ή θα πραγματοποιηθεί κάποια εκδήλωση? Πχ κάποια προβολή ταινίας, αυτόγραφα κλπ? Η αλήθεια είναι πως τα τελευταία χρόνια έχουν έρθει αρκετοί γνωστοί αθλητές στα βουνά μας χωρίς το γεγονός να λάβει την αντίστοιχη -χιονοδρομική- δημοσιότητα τόσο εντός όσο και εκτός χώρας (φεστιβάλ κλπ). Τουλάχιστον απ' όσο θυμάμαι. Νομίζω δεν υπάρχει καλύτερη διαφήμιση για το χιονοδρομικό προϊόν μας...
