Πραγματικά δύσκολη επιλογή . Δυο πολύ καλά χιονοδρομικά . Το ένα είναι γνωστό σε όλους , το άλλο όχι τόσο πολύ .

ας ξεκινήσουμε λοιπόν από το Alpe d huez

Το μέρος είναι μέσα στα δέκα που πρέπει να επισκεφθεί κανείς. 250 km + 220 στο Les Deux Alpes
Συνδυασμός με το Les Deux Alpes για δυο μέρες που ισχύει η εβδομαδιαία κάρτα νομίζω οτι κάνεις δεν πρόκειται να βαρεθεί

Θα πρέπει όμως να ενημερώσουμε οτι το Les Deux Alpes ειναι 35Km μακριά

από το/την Alpe d"Huez, και σε συνδυασμο με τον δρομο της ( 22 φουρκετες εχει η διασημη ανηφορα/κατηφορα )

ένα Λεωφορείο θα χρειασθεί 45-60min

 

 

άλλα να και το Meribel

 

Ένα χιονοδρομικό πεδίο 600 km που περιλαμβάνει τα χιονοδρομικά Courchevel,La Tania, Brides -Les-Bains ,Les Menuires , Saint Martin de Belleville , Val Thorens , Orelle .

Σχεδον όλα είναι ski in ski out. Τα πιο γνωστά είναι το Courchevel το meribel και το Val Thorens . Το Meribel έχει το πλεονέκτημα ότι βρίσκεται στην μέση αυτής της περιοχής οπότε έχει πιο εύκολη πρόσβαση προς όλες τις πλευρές. Επιπλέον είναι ένα ενδιαφέρον χωριό με έντονη apre ski ζωή.

Δεν ξέρω για νυχτερινή χωή στο alpe d'huez γιατί δεν έμεινα το βράδυ (είχε όμως πολλές διαφημίσεις για disco, club etc) αλλά στο κλείσιμο των lift δεν είδα να παίζει απολύτως τίποτα από apre ski. Όσο για τη meribel δε γνωρίζω αλλά σύμφωνα με τις φήμες και να έχει θα είναι απλησίαστο για τους περισσότερους λόγω τιμών.

LA FOLIE DOUCE, ALPE D’HUEZ – ARE YOU READY TO PARTY?

 

“The dream has become reality! Every day 2000 or more revellers from all over the world descend/ascend for the Folied Douce experience”.

The dream was started in 2007 by Luc Reversade. He wanted to start a brand new concept and experience, nearly 10,000 feet up on a mountain. The plan was to open an open air club. He wanted to create a high-altitude version of those famous full-moon beach parties that can be found in cool backpacker places around the globe. Singers, musicians, dancers and fire eaters would add that extra touch and the spectacular mountains surrounding would make the experience complete.

Now you can find the spectacular La Folied Douche through three world renowned resorts; Val d’Isere, Meribel and Val Thorens and with a fourth club opening in Alpe D’huez in December this year.

The new Folied Douche in Alpe D’huez will be located on the top of Marmottes 1 chairlift at a staggering 2,300 metres altitude. As all other Folie Douce establishments they will have a La Fruitiére restaurant, a Nuovo Self (self serving restaurant), an outside bar and a Folie Shop.

So what’s all the fuzz about? The big innovation in 2012 was the creation of the Folie Douce daily cabaret show on a stage specially built between the Folie Douce and La Fruiterie. The aim is to put on a high class, imaginatively dance spectacular, bringing the dining show concept up to date, and taking it high up the mountain.

If you are looking for a exceptional clubbing experience La Folie Douce is the place to be. The music evolves throughout the day with chilled lounge style music during restaurant hours which slowly transitions in to the cabaret show and finalising to a full-on Dance Party between 3.00pm to 5.00pm.

IS MERIBEL REALLY THE PLACE TO BE?

I have worked in many different and varied alpine resorts over a period of 25 years and truly believe that there are plenty of reasons to love Meribel. One of the main reasons is its location – in centre of the huge 3 Vallees ski area. Access to Val Thorens, La Tania and Courchevel is easy and there are ski runs to suit all levels of skier.

Meribel welcomes the British and was, in fact, founded by a British skier in 1938. It has several villages, which all vary in style – from Meribel Village at 1400 metres to Meribel Centre at 1600 metres. Don’t forget Meribel-Mottaret at 1750 metres!

 

 

Access around the resort is provided by an excellent, and free, bus service which runs regularly until midnight every single day – so no matter where you are staying – you can get around easily.

The Apres Ski scene is varied and there is something to suit everyone! From the famous Folie Douce, located at the mid station of La Saulire. Loud music and entertainment along with dancing on tables between 3pm and 5pm every day. The Rond Point is a well established favourite. Known locally as the ‘Ronny’ it is one of the most reasonably priced bar. Party time is from 5pm until 7pm and there is great live music every day.

If you like something a little more sedate, you could try the Barometer – located in the middle of Meribel Centre. With a bit of an English pub atmosphere and a wide selection of wines, it has a more relaxed atmosphere and serves good food.

If you are staying in beautiful Chalet Isba, Chalet Lys Blanc or Chalet Petit Coeur, you may like to try a visit to Aux Petits Oignons at Altitude 1600. It is a restaurant-bar and there is music on Monday evenings from 10pm. They serve excellent (and cheap) lunches and a full menu in the evenings.

 

 

There are also plenty of things to do with the family. For example, the Parc Olympique,located in the heart of Meribel. It has an indoor ice rink, indoor climbing wall, bowling alley, indoor swimming pool, fitness centre and wellness area and spa. It is open every day of the week and children under 5 are free! There are weekly passes available too.

Feeling the need to improve your jumps and tricks? In the Moon Park, there are sessions from 1pm on Thursdays, where you can just turn up, lay down your best tricks and win prizes for your efforts! With a multitude of cameras shooting your run, you can watch, download and share the best of your runs. On Mondays, there are the Family Moon sessions where you can challenge your family and friends in the snow park and there are free activities for everyone! More or a freestyler? Then the Plattières should shoot to the top of your list! Currently run by the DC Area 43 Project, there is new equipment, new shapers, new machines and new modules in the park. What more could you want?

THERE IS NOTHING LIKE A BIT OF APRÈS

If you want to go somewhere with a bit of Après for everyone in terms of live music, DJ sets and general atmosphere then Meribel is the place for you! You don’t have to go far to find a fantastic band jamming in one of the many great bars that the resort has on offer.

Every afternoon around 4 o’clock as you are skiing home you will be able to hear a live set all ready in full swing – check out the Meribar or Jacks Bar for some of the best après in town. Then come the evening, when your shins are sufficiently aching from all that dancing in your boots, hobble into the town-centre where the party is really kicking off!

With so much to choose from here are my top three acts playing regularly in Meribel:

‘Hobo Chic’ (also known as Adam Speight) is a infamous artist within the French Alps touring around several resorts. With his distinctive dread locks and even more distinctive sound, Hobo Chic is always a crowd pleaser and not to be missed. Check him out every Monday night at the après bar Lodge Du Village at Meribel Village.

 

 

Have you ever experienced the incredible combination of beat boxing, raspy vocals and a live violinist? No? Then you haven’t lived! Coco and the Butterfields play an innovative set which never fails to pack out the house whenever they are playing. They have been quoted as inventing the new genre “fip fock” which is a mishmash of sounds that I’ll let you decipher. Check out Jacks Bar on a Wednesday for some après action.

Bring Your Sisters – well what can I say? Having played in the Alps for years, they are always exciting the crowd as the sound of Nelly “Hot In Here” starts to fill the bar air. Tops come off, crowd surfing starts and the night is sure to end with spilt pints, sitting on the floor emotionally singing along to “Sit Down (Next To Me)”. This four piece band having been doing some of the best covers around and they are probably the biggest crowd pleasers always ready to play that ONE MORE SONG! Holding residency at the Meribar every Wednesday this season, join your chalet hosts with their hands in the air, singing to their hearts content.

 

 

So forget what you thought you knew about Après…. For outstanding covers, crowd pleasers, and a cracking time, join us in the French Alps as Meribel is where you need to be!

La Folie Douce

The Folie Douce is a legendary party bar that is famous throughout the Alps for having some of the best Après. Located at the top of Marmottes 1, with an incredible view of the valley, this is a great place to get the champagne flowing and dance on the tables. This bar is a must for visitors to the resort.

 

Underground Bar

This bar was one of the first British bars to have established itself here in Alpe d’Huez. It is famous for its live bands, great Après deals and for having the friendliest bar staff in resort. As it starts to warm up you can enjoy a fantastic BBQ and a beer, whilst catching the rays on their south facing sun terrace. All in all, this is a firm favourite with our resort team. Don’t leave without trying a slammer!

 

O-Bar

This warm and cosy restaurant-bar is located in the very heart of the old town. Serving delicious tapas and hearty, creative burgers it’s a great spot for families. And for any sports fans who don’t want to miss out on the latest games while in resort, this bar offers international sports channels.

 

L’Etalon

You will often hear regulars refer to this bar as Rum Bar thanks to its enormous selection of flavoured rums. If you really want to get involved, arrive dressed as a pirate and get a free drink in return. For any beer lovers, this bar even sells litre ‘steins’. And with its own table football, you can’t go wrong here.

 

Free Ride

Free Ride is more of a French-style bar that has a real ‘local’ feel. It is a great place to visit if you’re looking to experience a bit of French culture. One of the main attractions for our resort staff is that there is a slide that takes you from the bar to the bathroom. They also do a stock exchange in busy periods where prices increase or drop depending on what’s selling!

 

Sphere Bar

This bar is a favourite amongst resort staff and other seasonaires in Alpe d’Huez. It is located in the Quartier des Jeux and is famous for its great deals all around the clock. Live music and other events are often held here so come down and join the fun.

 

Lounge 21

Lounge 21 serves amazing cocktails, as well as a tasty tapas menu. They also offer wine tasting, where you get to try their delicious wines and pair them with different mountain cheese and meats. Relax on the sofas and enjoy…

 

Smithy’s Tavern

Smithy’s can be found on the vibrant Route du Coulet and is famous for its late night live music and lively atmosphere. This spacious bar serves a wide variety of pitchers, shots and bombs; they even serve a rack of Genepi. You will find yourselves dancing on the table before the night is over. This is the classic end-of-evening stop before Igloo.

This is the late night club for those of you that are looking to dance into the early hours of the morning. It is conveniently located in the centre of town surrounded by plenty of other bars attracting young locals and holiday makers alike. The best DJs around play at Igloo meaning you will have the time of your life dancing the night away.

 

Other spots include O’Sharkys Irish Bar, Zoo Bar and Eight Bar – all of which have pool tables! There’s also the relaxed Indiana, nicely positioned in the middle of the old town – it even has a brand new TV for showing all the sports. With this much on offer, you have some serious decisions on your hands. But don’t worry, we run a nightlife orientation evening on Monday nights – our Tour d’Huez is a great night out and takes the guess-work out of bar decisions!

Αναφορικα με την Alp d Huez, Θα πρεπει να συνυπολογιστει οτι το 1/3 του χιονοδρομικου τα καταλαμβανει ενα τεραστιο πλατωμα, και μια τεραστια αμφιθεατρικη ομαδα βουνων και λοφων οπου ξεκιναν και τελειωνουν ολα τα λιφτ, οι παρα πολλες πρασινες και μπλε πιστες, οπου ειναι υπερβολικα γεματες απο σχολες σκι, και παιδικες σχολες αντιστοιχα και με κυκλοφορια οπως το μποτιλιαρισμα της παραλιακης. Το υπολοιπο χιονοδρομικο σωστα διαθετει τις κλασικες γαλλικες διαστημικες πιστες σκι.

Μην ξεχνάμε ότι πάμε σε χαμηλή σαιζόν για τα γαλλικά χιονοδρομικά, οπότε το μποτιλιάρισμα δεν θα είναι ενοχλητικό ακόμα και αν υπάρχει.

επίσης είναι ένα χιονοδρομικό που λίγοι το γνωρίζουν, δεν ξέρω αν από τον σύλλογο έχει πάει κάποιος και σίγουρα αξίζει να το επισκεφθούμε. Σε σύγκριση με το Meribel (mottaret) είναι περίπου 20% φθηνότερο σαν πακέτο διακοπών.
